Referrals to the Child Advocacy Center
Nebraska Revised Statute 28-711 requires any physician, medical institution, nurse, school employee, social worker, or other person who has reasonable cause to believe that a child has been subjected to abuse or neglect or observes such child being subjected to conditions or circumstances which reasonably would result in abuse or neglect to report their concerns to the proper law enforcement agency or to the Department of Health and Human Services.
In compliance with the reporting law, forensic interviews and medical evaluations are conducted at the Child Advocacy Center only upon referral by law enforcement, protection and safety, or the prosecutor’s office.
